Patty's Pantry and other stuff!: Make sure your bread is freshest when you buy it

Apparently everyone doesn't know that the color on the bread twist ties indicates when the bread was delivered to the store.

Bread is delivered Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Each day has a different color twist tie. They are:
Monday - Blue
Tuesday - Green
Thursday - Red
Friday - White
Saturday - Yellow
The colors go alphabetically by color Blue - Green - Red - White - Yellow, Monday thru Saturday.

NOTE: I talked with a bread man yesterday (Saturday) and he said Saturday was green! I looked this up and found that each bread manufacturer uses its own color code, so the above will work most of the time, but not always.

Cookbooks

I have a nice collection of cookbooks. I enjoy looking at them and discovering a new recipe to try, sometimes with a few changes to make it more palatable for my family's tastes. Many are gifts that remind me of loving family members and friends who cared to give something to enjoy for many years. Some are used cookbooks that I found on the internet, at the library book sale, or at a fund raiser book sale. You will find cookbooks in almost every room in our house as I carry them around never knowing when I'll get the inspiration to look up a recipe for something I haven't tried, yet. Part of the reason that I wrote my own cookbook is because I usually change the directions and/or the ingredients in recipes that I find in a cookbook or online. If someone asks for my recipe or if I want to repeat it for my family or guests, I have to keep notes of the changes I make.
